Here is something to help:
1. PRECIPITATION method ( INSOLUBLE )
- place a known volume of one salt solution in a beaker
- Add solution of the other salt until no longer dissolve
- (i.) filter the mixtures
- (ii.) residue is insoluble salt
- (iii.) throw away filtrate containing soluble salt
- wash residue with distilled water
- dry the salt crystal
- place a known volume of acid in a conical flask; add indicator
- add alkali from a burette until indicator changes color. (neutralisation complete)
- record volume of alkali used
- repeat again:place same volume of acid in a beaker but do not add indicator
- add same volume of alkali as before to produce salt solution
- heat salt solution to evaporate some water
- (i) allow to cool
- (ii) salts crystal form
- filter off salts crystal and dry
- Heat some acid in a beaker
- add metal or metal oxide or carbonate until some no longer dissolves
- a) filter mixture and
- b) throw away residue
- c) filtrate is a salt solution
- heat filtrate to evaporate some water
- (i) allow to cool
- (ii) salt crystal is form
- filter off salts and dry
